Halifax Foundation for NI increased grantmaking in 2015

The Halifax Foundation for Northern Ireland provided grants last year of just under £1.7 million, up from £1.6 the year before, according to their latest accounts.
During 2015, the Foundation made 647 grants across 3 Grant Programmes. The main grants programme, Community Grants Programme, received a total of 542 applications and the Foundation funded 368 organisations. The average grant awarded in this programme was £3,216, with the maximum grant £5,000.
Applications were received from across the charitable sector including community groups, youth groups, older people’s groups and organisations supporting those with a disability. The Community Grant Programme remains the main focus of the Foundation, concentrating on social and community welfare and education and training. The main grants categories were in ‘community’ and ‘children and young people.’

£76,000 was given through Halifax’s Matched Giving scheme which is open to any Lloyds Banking Group plc employee based in Northern Ireland, including group subsidiaries. The top ten charities benefiting were:

The foundation was formerly called the Lloyds Bank Foundation for Northern Ireland and changed its name in January 2016.
