DAFNE (The Donors and Foundations Network in Europe) is celebrating the annual European Day of Foundations and Donors on 1st October, which aims to raise awareness and celebrate the work of public benefit foundations.
This year, in partnership with the European Foundation Centre (EFC) DAFNE members from across Europe will be hosting a series of events and online activities to celebrate the work of public benefit foundations, and to raise awareness around the role of philanthropy.
Using social media and the hashtag #October1Europe, the aim of the day is to give the public an insight into the work of foundations and motivate more public support by getting individuals and organisations throughout Europe to speak about their experiences with philanthropy.

Activity includes the Bulgarian Donors Forum, which is encouraging people to explain the ways in which philanthropy has affected them in the time it takes for a match to go out with its #JoinTheLight Campaign, while The Associazione delle Fondazioni di Casse di erogazione (ASSIFERO) and Associazione di Fondazioni e di Casse di Risparmio (ACRI) in Italy, will be sharing messaging focusing on the topic of migration.
Asociación Española de Fundaciones is also participating, and will be encouraging Spanish foundations to tweet at noon on October 1st, while activity will also take place in Switzerland and Croatia.
