Prostate Cancer UK’s charity poker night returns

Howard Lake | 20 September 2016 | News

‘Lads Night In’, the one-night poker event for friends and family at home, returns on 21 October to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK, with support from international poker site PokerStars.
The partners are inviting men and women to organise an evening in, play cards and have fun while raising money.
Last year’s inaugural one-day event saw 5,400 people take part and a total of £114,000 being raised.
The charity is offering a Lads Night In pack to help with the organisation. It includes a deck of cards, a dealer button and the rules of poker for anyone unfamiliar with them. Supporters simply need to register for Lads Night In to request one.

Lads Night In raised £114,000 in its first year.

James Beeby, Director of Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK said:

“We’re proud to be partnering with PokerStars for the second year running. Our campaign is all about reaching men and inspiring them to be aware of their health. Through working with PokerStars, and encouraging as many people as possible to host a ‘Lads Night In’, we can together help stop prostate cancer being a killer once and for all.”

Prostate Cancer UK has developed a 10-year strategy in which, “through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention and support, we can make prostate cancer a disease the next generation of men need not fear”.
