Running app launches with transatlantic virtual charity race

A new virtual running app has launched with what it claims is the world’s first transatlantic virtual race for charity.
Using the Racefully app, two charity runners ran together in real time on opposite sides of the Atlantic ocean, with the event hosted in London and Boston.
The virtual live run aimed to highlight the connection between running, community and charity. It featured London-based Natalie Doble, raising funds for the St. Mark’s Hospital Foundation, and Boston-based Collin Matthews, a Boston Marathon veteran who ran for the Martin Richard Foundation.

Racefully is available free is the Apple Store with plans for an Android release. It allows runners to virtually meet up and run together, as well as raise funds through their running, regardless of location. Once a user has launched a race with friends, Racefully’s Live Run feature keeps track of who is keeping pace, who is falling behind, and who is taking the lead in real time.
