Patron’s Lunch celebrates Queen’s patronage of over 600 charities

Melanie May | 7 March 2016 | News

The Queen’s 90th birthday and her patronage of over 600 charities will be celebrated this June at special event The Patron’s Lunch.
The not-for-profit event takes place on 12th June with all proceeds going towards a newly created Patron’s Fund, which will support charities within the UK and the Commonwealth of which the Queen is Patron.
The event will be the largest street party the Mall in St James’s Park, London has ever seen. 10,000 guests will be treated to a hamper-style lunch, with the Queen joined by the Prince of Edinburgh as well as other members of the Royal Family. The lunch is a ticketed event, with the majority of tickets being made available to the charities and organisations to which the Queen is Patron, as well as through a public ballot for 2,000 tickets at £150 each.
Live entertainment on The Mall will include a carnival parade celebrating these charities and organisations.
The lunch will be broadcast live across BBC platforms and will end the ‘National Weekend of Celebration’, which includes the Service of Thanksgiving on 10th June, and Trooping the Colour on 11th June.
Following the event, Patron’s organisations will be able to apply for funding from The Patron’s Fund, with the assessment of applications and allocation of funds managed by chair of trustees, Sir Stuart Etherington.
