Starbucks offers £150k to local charities in #RedCupCheer Christmas campaign

Howard Lake | 9 November 2015 | News

Starbucks’ #RedCupCheer initiative returns this year, offering 200 small and local charities across the UK the chance to compete for grants of up to £1,000.
The pre-Christmas campaign, run in partnership with neighbourly.com, invites charities to make the most social media ‘noise’ through their supporters via Twitter and social network neighbourly.com using the #RedCupCheer hashtag.
Registration for the campaign is now open, with the competition for grants getting underway on 15 November.
The campaign is designed to “celebrate the work of smaller charities and local causes in the UK”.
With neighbourly.com measuring the activity, the charities with the most social media support on 6 December will receive a Red Cup Grant of £1,000. Runners up will receive a £500 grant.
This is the second time Starbucks and Neighbourly have partnered on a Christmas community initiative following the success of last year’s activity which supported over 70 charities.

Nick Davies, Founder of neighbourly said:

“Red Cup Cheer is a fantastic way for Starbucks to connect with projects close to the hearts of customers and colleagues in their local communities. Neighbourly.com provides a space for projects to tell their story and share among friends and neighbours so that Starbucks can focus support where it’s needed most. Good luck to all those participating.”
