As clocks go back, Rank Group staff use extra hour for fundraising for Carers Trust

The clocks go back one hour on Sunday. While many people will enjoy a lie-in, staff at The Rank Group have committed to use that extra hour to raise funds for Carers Trust.
Thousands of staff will be taking part in fundraising events and activities on Sunday to raise funds for the charity, which is The Rank Group’s charity partner. Activities range from a Tom Jones tribute night to cake bakes.
The charity improves support, services and recognition for anyone who cares, unpaid, for a family member or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or addiction problems. There are seven million carers in the UK.

What would carers do?

The charity polled 255 carers to find out how they would use the extra hour at the end of British Summer Time tomorrow.
Given that many unpaid carers work around the clock looking after their sick or disabled family members or friends, 22% said they would welcome some extra sleep. On the other hand 25% said they would go out and get some exercise or take part in a hobby; and 18% said they would catch up with friends.
Henry Birch, CEO, of The Rank Group Plc, said:

“Our employees love a challenge and the opportunity to come up with some innovative ideas to raise money for Carers Trust in just an hour was irresistible. Carers Trust is an organisation that is close to the heart of many of our employees and our customers are absolutely fantastic and always get involved and support our fundraising efforts.”
