Financial services company Legal & General is donating £40,000 to sponsor Action on Stroke Month in May 2014. This is The Stroke Association’s major annual campaign.
The company is also supporting the charity’s latest campaign on TIA/mini-stroke, which aims to ensure that more people know a TIA is a warning sign of a stroke and that emergency medical treatment should be sought.
During Action on Stroke Month, the charity will host hundreds of awareness raising and fundraising events across the country. These will include Stroke Community Fairs, where people can access information about stroke and the range of support that’s available to stroke survivors, their families and friends. People will also be able to get free blood pressure tests.
Duncan Finch, Executive Managing Director Insurance for Legal & General, explained why the company is supporting the charity. He said:

“Stroke is one of the major health issues that can affect our customers. By working with the UK’s leading stroke charity, we can help improve our understanding of the impact of stroke and develop our products and services to meet the needs of those affected by this devastating condition.”

The company runs a Health and Wellbeing Programme in which it helps employees reduce their risk of conditions such as stroke by stopping smoking and eating a balanced and healthy diet.
