Twitter tool #wewillgather aims to facilitate local good deeds

We Will Gather

#Wewillgather is a new social media platform designed “to gather good people to help with any action” in a local area. It was inspired by #riotcleanup, the popular response to the riots in England in August 2011, which resulted in people coming together to clear up the mess.

The free service lets anyone start an action in their community, and find people to help complete it. It could be cleaning, decorating, gardening, fixing, making, fundraising, or simply a meeting.

We Will Gather creates a page where the person with the idea adds more details, and then they start using Twitter to gain help from people in their area.

The site handles reminders and last-minute requests for more numbers, if necessary.

The platform already has the support of NESTA, the RSA, the Cabinet Office and vInspired.
