CLIC Sargent gets social with its new brand

CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, has brought in brand agency Social to partner with its design team on the final phase of its rebrand across all of the charity’s communications.
The charity had already begun to refresh its brand when it was selected as Tesco Charity of the Year 2010, which resulted in the development of a more youthful and dynamic logo and visual style.
Social provided external support to help the charity finalise its rebrand and produce a new concise set of brand guidelines that would result in a consistent look and feel. Social’s role was to work on developing, organising and formalising each element of the brand. The new guidelines go into practice in summer 2011 and the new look will roll out over 2011.
Steven Lucker, Partner at Social, said: “As CLIC Sargent grows and simultaneously raises its profile, there was a real need to increase consistency. Lots of great work had already been done by the design team led by Ross at CLIC Sargent, so it was simply a case of tidying up loose ends, organising a system for repeated use of their visual identity and then putting it all into a controlled set of brand and graphic guidelines for use across the UK by fundraisers and partners.”

As a charity we were mindful of the need to do this in the most cost-effective way possible, so after carrying out most of the work in-house, we were delighted to work with Social to finalise our rebrand and to help add structure to our guidelines.
“Social took the time to really understand CLIC Sargent, our history, our cause and our objectives for the future. They built on existing successes to help our internal creative team refine our look, turning it into a cohesive visual brand that is already proving successful. Their brand marketing knowledge and strategic approach helped us articulate the need for a consistent brand and visual identity internally.
“CLIC Sargent’s new brand is fresher and more flexible – and better reflects the work that we do to support children and young people with cancer, and their families.”
